Rosemary Shipton joined Simon & Schuster Canada as an executive editor in October 2023. Previously, she was an editor at University of Toronto Press, a partner in Shipton, McDougall Maude Associates (publishing consultants), and founding co-director of the Publishing Program at Toronto Metropolitan University. She has edited hundreds of books and been praised by her authors as a partner in bringing their books to publication – among them, Katerina Atanassova, Meredith Chilton, Jean Chrétien, Marq de Villiers, Modris Eksteins, John English, David Hackett Fischer, J.L. Granatstein, Richard Gwyn, Roy McMurtry, Anna Porter, and David Silcox. Many of these books have won major Canadian and international awards. Rosemary has received several editing awards, and Trinity College, University of Toronto, granted her an honorary doctorate for her contribution to publishing in Canada. She is interested in acquiring a broad range of nonfiction, including art and culture, biography and autobiography, current affairs, health, history, lifestyle, memoir, narrative nonfiction, politics, relationships, religion, and true crime – in particular, riveting stories that readers will enjoy.
