Sabrina Verbeek (she/her) Commissioning Editor De Fontein (VBK)

After earning an MA in English Literature and experiencing some existential doubts as to what to do with it, I discovered the university offered an MA track in publishing, and off I went. A short stint in educational publishing later, I got a position as a desk editor at a commercial fiction list, and never looked back. I have been with De Fontein as a commissioning editor since 2011 and love the fact that my job allows me to occasionally burst into happy and/or sad tears because a story is just that good. (My colleagues have gotten used to this.)
At De Fontein my main focus is commercial women’s fiction, but my range spans from upmarket/literary to NA/romance and includes some very narrative non-fiction/memoir (mostly WW2) as well.
