Leah Trouwborst joined Simon Element in 2021 as a senior editor. She acquires projects with cutting-edge advice and surprising points of view by pioneering experts, storytellers, practitioners, and agitators in the worlds of behavioral science, business, personal development, self-help, and wellness. She previously worked at the Portfolio imprint of Penguin Random House, where she acquired and edited four New York Times bestsellers and nine Wall Street Journal bestsellers, including Ryder Carroll’s The Bullet Journal Method, Julie Zhuo’s The Making of a Manager, Marie Forleo’s Everything Is Figureoutable, Jake Wood’s Once a Warrior, and Liz Fosslien and Mollie West Duffy’s No Hard Feelings. Her specialty is in helping brilliant people shape their research, ideas, and experiences into books that put their intelligence on full display and take readers on immersive, transformative journeys. She also selectively acquires big-idea books, narrative nonfiction, and memoir for the Atria list, and is drawn to provocative books in current affairs, tech, finance, psychology, economics, and sociology and stories that take you where you otherwise couldn’t go.
