Max is acquiring narrative, reported, and ideas-based nonfiction. He is a generalist, and is drawn to propulsive stories across a range of genres and topics, including popular science, entertainment, sports, culture, current events, travel, and nature. He has a soft spot for journalists and experts who write well; first-person narratives by successful people with a story to tell; surprising and entertaining explorations of big ideas, hot-button topics, and subcultures; and arguments that change minds.
Max joined Gallery Books in 2017, after completing an MFA in fiction writing at Royal Holloway, University of London, and an internship at Aevitas Creative Management. Snapshots from his pre-publishing life include managing production on an Academy Award–winning documentary film; teaching high school English in Bangkok, Thailand; and teaching business writing for Wharton’s MBA program at The University of Pennsylvania.
