Jéla Lewter joined Saga Press in October 2021, bringing with her a love of all things speculative and genre fiction. After graduating from American University with a B.A. in Communication Studies and a minor in creative writing, she pursued an education in the publishing industry through New York University’s 2020 Summer Publishing Institute and their publishing master’s program while interning at Jean V. Naggar Literary Agency.

In 2021, she pioneered the inaugural year of Hachette Book Group’s Associate Program working with Little, Brown; Little, Brown Books for Young Readers, and Orbit Books. Her passionate interest in sci-fi, fantasy, horror and the unique ways in which each critiques society brought her to Saga. She seeks fiction that explores the darker side of human nature, shines light on marginalized voices, and poses questions without clear cut answers. She supports Nivia Evans and Sareena Kamath.
