Natalie Hallak is an editor at Atria. Before joining the company in September 2021, she began her career at Park Row Books/HarperCollins, where she went on to publish The Lost Apothecary by Sarah Penner, a New York Times bestseller, B&N Discover Pick, Indie Next Pick, Book of the Month Club pick, and #1 Library Reads selection. She also published The Last Story of Mina Lee by Nancy Jooyoun Kim, a Reese’s Book Club selection, an instant New York Times bestseller and Book of the Month Club pick. She has a passion for finding novels that appeal to the commercial and literary fiction readership across genres—historical, book club, upmarket women’s fiction and suspense/thrillers—as well as select memoirs. In particular, she is drawn to distinct voices, underrepresented perspectives, wildly entertaining plots, powerful relationships, subversive women/nonbinary leads, unpredictable twists, reach-for-the-tissue-box emotion, a healthy dose of humor and charm, and layered, ambitious storytelling. She especially loves mainstream novels with edge, stories that expand limited worldviews and keep her up reading late into the night.
