Amy Guay, Assistant Editor

Amy Guay is an assistant editor at Avid Reader Press. She is passionate about contemporary literary fiction that unites lucid prose with emotional precision, and has a particular interest in queer stories, coming-of-age novels, and strange and specific memoirs. She hopes to vigorously acquire projects by and about writers who diverge from industry norms, especially if they are grounded by a strong, singular voice and buoyed by a wry sense of humor. She has assisted on titles including Easy Beauty by Chloé Cooper Jones, Human Blues by Elisa Albert, and One Hundred Saturdays by Michael Frank. Before joining the imprint, she wrote for The Chautauquan DailyWashington City Paper, and the National Trust for Historic Preservation. She grew up in Sarasota, Florida, and graduated with a B.A. in American Studies from Georgetown University.
