I was asked by Genevieve Waldmann to start in 2015 from scratch the Children’s Book & YA list at Luitingh-Sijthoff, and have since then built a tasteful list with well-established authors and illustrators, both in translation and original Dutch. Our books have been awarded with literary and children’s jury prizes. Our international list includes Benji Davies, Steve Small, Meg Rosoff, Jenny Valentine, Ruta Sepetys, Katherine Rundell, Jessica Townsend, Louie Stowell, Cassandra Clare, Stephanie Garber and many more. Dutch original authors such as Enne Koens, Wilma Geldof, Marja Baseler, Annemarie van den Brink, Tjarko van der Pol and Lotte Stegeman are beloved by their foreign publishers and readers, and have been nominated for prizes such as the Deutscher Jugendliteraturpreis and the Premio Strega. LS books are guaranteed to be loved by children and their (grand)parents, because of the high quality and child friendly approach. Our list is a healthy mixture of commercial and literary books. Before I came to work at Luitingh-Sijthoff, I set up a children’s book publishing house from scratch twice before.
I love that my passion, my love for children’s books, is my job.
